CABINET DECISION – 3 APRIL 2020
Cabinet has taken note of the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Mauritius and worldwide and the implementation of measures to contain the spread of the virus in the country as well as arrangements made for the treatment of those patients.
Cabinet has, inter alia, also taken note that –
(a) the Ministry of Health and Wellness, in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Integration, Social Security and National Solidarity has started, as from 31 March 2020, a Home Visit Service. Suspected cases of COVID-19 are referred to the Regional Public Health Superintendents for necessary action;
(b) under the Wage Assistance Scheme, the Mauritius Revenue Authority has, as at 2 April 2020, disbursed funds to some 109,969 employees in 9,440 businesses;
(c) as at 2 April 2020, around 50,000 online applications have been received under the Self-Employed Assistance Scheme by the Mauritius Revenue Authority and same were being processed; and
(d) basic food items have been distributed to families on the Social Register of Mauritius, beneficiaries of Carer’s Allowance, shelters, homes and charitable institutions.
