Cabinet Decisions taken on 29 JUNE 2018

1.         Cabinet has taken note that His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz Bin Saud Bin Naif Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Minister of Interior of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia would visit Mauritius from 1 to 3 July 2018.  He would pay courtesy calls on the Acting President of the Republic and the Minister Mentor, Minister for Defence, Minister for Rodrigues and have a tête-à-tête and a working session with the Prime Minister.
2.         Cabinet has taken note of the status of implementation of the Human Resource Management Information System project of the Ministry of Civil Service and Administrative Reforms.  The project is expected to be completed by December 2019.  The implementation of the Human Resource Management Information System, which is a major reform initiative, forms part of the agenda of Government to transform the public service and digitise the service delivery to enhance customer satisfaction.
3.         Cabinet has taken note of the initiatives taken by the Ministry of Tourism and other stakeholders to boost tourist arrivals from China. The Minister of Tourism had a meeting recently with Mr Wang Wenbao, Chairperson of Shanxi Cultural and Tourism Investment Holding Group and Mr Xing Lianjun, General Manager of Shanxi Province Investment Group and discussed, inter alia, the intensification of promotional efforts and possibilities of marketing support. The Ministry of Tourism is also holding regular meetings with Air Mauritius and relevant stakeholders to discuss marketing strategies for the Chinese market with a view to harmonising efforts to attract the Chinese outbound market to Mauritius.
4.         Cabinet has taken note of the decisions taken by the Sixth Meeting of the African Union Ministers of Trade recently held in Senegal on the Annexes to the Protocols establishing the African Continental Free Trade Area.  The Annexes to the Protocol on Goods and to the Protocol on Dispute Settlement and the List of Priority Sectors on Trade in Services, namely Transport, Communication, Financial, Tourism and Business Services would be recommended for adoption by the forthcoming Session of the Assembly of the African Union in Mauritania in July 2018.
5.         Cabinet has taken note that according to Statistics Mauritius, unemployment rate for 2018 is forecasted at 6.9%, lower than the rate of 7.1% for 2017.
6.         Cabinet has taken note of arrangements that have been made by the Ministry of Health and Quality of Life to assist Hadj pilgrims who would proceed to Saudi Arabia as from 4 August 2018.  Vaccination against meningitis with vaccine ACYW 135 would be carried out free of charge in all regional hospitals on 7 July 2018.  The medical examination of the Hadj pilgrims would be carried out in Area Health Centres and Community Health Centres.  Pilgrims would also be advised to attend the five main regional hospitals ten days before 7 July 2018 in order to take advantage of anti-influenza vaccination.
