The Government is also making an appeal to the private sector to make contributions/donations to the Government of Mozambique. In that respect the Companha da Sena which comprises a majority of Mauritian promoters for the implementation of the Marrommeu sugar project is making a contribution of US$10,000 directly to the Mozambican Government.

2. Cabinet has approved the grant of 2 Export Enterprise Certificates and 2 Pioneer Status Enterprise Certificates.
One of the projects relate to the processing of calls via a call centre. The implementation of the projects will create 165 job opportunities and will entail investment amounting to around Rs 39M.

3. Cabinet has agreed to Mauritius signing an Agreement on Co-operation in Information Technology with the Government of the Republic of India. The Agreement will be signed during the visit of the Prime Minister of India to Mauritius. The following Agreements will also be signed:-
· · (i) Agreement for line of credit for acquisition of Coastal and EEZ Surveillance System;
(ii) Agreement for Co-operation in Oceanography; and
(iii) Agreement on Trade.

4. Cabinet has agreed to a project by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Technology & Natural Resources to close down the sheep breeding centre at Salazie; the existing herd will be sold to breeders in Mauritius and Rodrigues. Part of the land to be released will be leased to small planters for vegetable production under the supervision of Agricultural Research and Extension Unit.

5. Cabinet has agreed, in principle, to Mauritius hosting the 10th session of the SADC Committee of Ministers of Culture, Information and Sport in May, 2001.

6. Cabinet has been apprised of developments regarding the new regional administration set up for Rodrigues which will henceforth operate under the aegis of the Ministry for Rodrigues.

7. Cabinet has been apprised that the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) will hold a subregional Intellectural Property Workshop for legislative draftsmen from African countries, in Mauritius from 28 February to 31 March 2000. Some 25 delegates from African countries will be present. The objective of the workshop is to familiarise legislative draftsmen with the basic principles of Intellectual property law and procedure.

8. Cabinet has taken note of a project by the Ministry of Public Infrastructure to cover the five footbridges across the motorway at Camp Chapelon, Cassis and Roche Bois. The project will be implemented in conjunction with the private sector.

9. Cabinet has been apprised of the proposed programme of activities for the celebration of the International Women’s Day on 8 March. This year the celebration will be placed around the theme – Women in Politics and Decision Making.
Shrimati Vasundhara Raje, Minister of State for Small Industries and Agro Rural Industries of India will be the guest of honour during the celebrations.

10. Cabinet has taken note of the outcome of mission of Dr. the Hon. A. Boolell to Rome where he participated in the 23rd Session of the IFAD Governing Council which was held on 16 and 17 February, 2000.

11. Cabinet has been apprised of the reconstitution of:-
(i) the Prisons Board of Visitors for the year 2000 with Mrs. Magistrate D. Beesoondoyal as the Chairperson; and
(ii) the Board of the Food and Agricultural Research Council (FARC) for the years 2000 and 2001, under the chairmanship of Mr. Alain Noel, Manager, Deep River/Beau Champ.
