2.Cabinet has agreed to the introduction into the National Assembly of the draft Mauritius Council of Registered Librarians Bill. The object of the Bill is to provide for the establishment and management of the Mauritius Council of Registered Librarians to ensure inter alia professionalism in the practice of Librarianship.

3.Cabinet has agreed to the grant of a Fishing Development Certificate for an annual production of about 40 tonnes of swordfish using surface longline fishing techniques. The project would necessitate investment of around Rs 3.05M and create direct employment for nine persons.

4.Cabinet has agreed to Mauritius participating in a Conference on Non-Trade Concerns in Agriculture scheduled to be held in Norway in the first week of July 2000. The main objective of the proposed Conference is to build an alliance for Non-Trade Concerns, in the context of the WTO Agreement which provides for the continuation of the reform process in agriculture. The Conference will focus inter alia on issues such as food security, rural viability, cultural heritage and diversity and certain environmental qualities.

5.Cabinet has agreed to the publication by the Ministry of Economic Development, Productivity & Regional Development of a document entitled "Into the Third Millennium: National Strategy for Sustainable Development, 1999-2005".

6.Cabinet has taken note of the proposal of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) to organise a National Seminar on the Trade Related Aspect of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) in Mauritius from 5 to 7 June 2000.

7.Cabinet has taken note of the outcome of -
(i) the 8th Special Meeting of the SADC Ministers of Industry and Trade held in Johannesburg, South Africa on 31 March 2000. The Mauritian delegation was led by the Minister of Economic Development Productivity & Regional Development;
(ii) the meeting of the SADC Ministerial Working Committee on the implementation of the Copenhagen Declaration on Social Development, held in Pretoria, Republic of South Africa on 30 and 31 March. The Mauritian delegation was led by the Minister of Social Security, National Solidarity and Senior Citizens Welfare.
