Cabinet Decisions taken on 24th August 2001


 
1. Cabinet has agreed to Mauritius hosting a Regional Workshop on Secondary Education from 3 to 6 December 2001, organised by UNESCO/BREDA to discuss the general orientation for reforms in secondary education in Africa.

2. Inline with Government’s policy to control the introduction of Malaria and other infectious diseases in Mauritius, Cabinet has agreed to the re-introduction of Health Counters at the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport with a view to inter alia screening passengers coming from malaria infectedcountries.

​3. Cabinet has taken note of –

a) the outcome of the mission of –

(i) the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Co-operation to Blantyre, Malawi where he attended the SADC Summit 2001 held from 9 to 14 August; and

 (ii) the Attorney-General and Minister ofJustice & Human Rights to Vienna where he participated together with the Hon. I. Collendavelloo, Chairman of the Select Committee on Corruption and Fraud, in the Inter-Governmental Open-Ended Expert Group meeting held from 30 July to 3 August 2001 for the drawing up of a UN Convention against Corruption;and

(b) the participation of the Ministry of Fisheries in the Exhibition and Seminar on Fisheries in the SADC region heldfrom 4 to 14 August 2001 in Blantyre, Malawi.

4. Cabinet has taken noteof the details of the rally organised in honour of Eric Milazar and StephanBuckland by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, in collaboration with localauthorities and parents of the athletes on Sunday 26 August 2001. A rally is also being organised to take place in Rodrigues on Monday 27 August 2001.

5. Cabinet has taken noteof the measures being taken by the Ministry of Local Government and Rodrigues to address environmental problems at Mare Chicose Landfill.
