2.Cabinet has agreed to Local Authorities and parastatal bodies, employing more than 100 workers, setting up Safety and Health Committees and recruiting Safety & Health Officers in accordance with the Occupational Safety, Health & Welfare Act.

3.Following representations made by private land owners and small planters, Cabinet has agreed that the protected area at Mare Chicose landfill should be re-defined to exclude certain privately owned lands.

4.Cabinet has taken note of the Report of the preliminary inquiry into the disappearance of the Fishing Craft 'Variola’, with five fishermen, off Rodrigues Island in January last.

5. Cabinet has taken note that the first meeting of Mauritian athletes taking part in the Indian Ocean Islands Games will be held at Domaine les Pailles on Thursday 29 August 2002.

6. Cabinet has taken note of the reconstitution of:-
(i) the Mauritius Museum Board; and
(ii) the Industrial and Vocational Training Council for the period 2002 to 2004.

7.Cabinet has taken note of the fire outbreak at Victoria Hospital on 10 August 2002 and that Police enquiry to determine the cause of the fire is underway.

8.Cabinet has taken note of the outcome of the missions of:-
(i) the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Cooperation to Zambia on 15 August 2002, where he had discussions with the President Mwanawasa on inter alia Economic Partnership Agreements negotiations and Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement; and
(ii) the Minister of Economic Development, Financial Services and Corporate Affairs to Swaziland from 14 to 16 August 2002, where he attended the Ministerial Council Meeting of Eastern and Southern African Anti-Money Laundering Group.
