Cabinet Decisions taken on 06 June 2003


1. Cabinet has agreed to the implementation, in toto, of the recommendations of the Pay Research Bureau on Pay and Grading Structures and Conditions of Service in the Public Sector. The Report has been made public.

2. Cabinet has agreed to regulations being made to prescribe the colours of our National Flag and the Armorial ensigns of Mauritius (Coat of Arms) and penalties for misuse and misrepresentation. The colour codes of the National Flag are –
Red Colour Code No. 0.005
Blue Colour Code No. 7.086
Yellow Colour Code No. 0.001
Green Colour Code No. 0.010
The colour codes of the Coat of Arms are as follows –
Azur - Royal Blue (Pantone Reflex Blue)
Or - Gold (Metallic Gold)
Vert - Emerald Green (Pantone Green)
Gules - Warm Red (Pantone 2X)
Argent - Silver (Metallic Silver)

3. Cabinet has agreed to the introduction into the National Assembly of the Unified Revenue (Amendment) Bill which aims at amending the Unified Revenue Act to provide for the establishment of a new division to be known as the Revenue Division, in order to deal more expeditiously with the prosecution of tax fraud and other offences relating to revenue.

4. Cabinet has agreed to the upgrading of La Pointe Public Beach at Le Morne and to the reinforcement of safety measures there.

5. Cabinet has agreed to the proposals of the Masterplan on the Grand Baie Integrated Resort Development Project and to the implementation of Phase I thereof.

6. Cabinet has taken note that during the forthcoming Indian Ocean Games, athletes from Mayotte would form part of the Reunion team which will be known as “France de l’Ocean Indien”.

7. Cabinet has taken note of the reconstitution of –
(i) the Board of Trustees of St Antoine Planters Cooperative Trust under the chairmanship of Mr Dev Ramdany; and
(ii) the Commission Nationale du Sports Féminine with
Mrs Michèle Dulthumon as Chairperson.

8. Cabinet has taken note of the outcome of the missions of –
(i) the Minister of Industry and International Trade to Geneva where he attended the Meeting of the Group on Non-Agricultural Market Access from 26 to 28 May. He also participated in the Special Meeting of Trade Ministers from countries in the Eastern and Southern Africa held on 28 May.
(ii) the Minister of Tourism and Leisure to Reunion Island on 21 and 22 May to give a boost in the promotional campaign conducted by the MTPA and to brief the travel trade and media on our tourism policy; and
(iii) the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Cooperation to South Africa where he attended the 3rd Extraordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union held from 21 to 25 May. He also participated in the 7th Summit of NEPAD Heads of State and Government Implementation Committee held in Nigeria on 28 May.

9. Cabinet took note of the status of the preparation of the Code of Corporate Governance for Mauritius.
