Cabinet Decisions taken on 30 May 2003


1. Cabinet has taken note of a new framework for streamlining procedures for the grant of permits and licences with a view to facilitating investment and business taking into consideration the proposals for land use planning, the development of the updated National Physical Development Plan and the setting up of a Permits and Licences Committee under the new Local Government Legislation.

2. Cabinet has agreed to the setting up of an Inter-Ministerial Committee under the chairmanship of the Ministry of Environment for the implementation of the recommendations contained in the report on the Environmental Management of Vacoas/Phoenix Industrial Estate (commonly known as Valentina).

3. Cabinet has agreed to the uplifting and upgrading of Signal Mountain through restoration of roads and drains, reforestation of the slopes, embellishing the site and controlling access.

4. Cabinet has taken note that the Report of the Civil Service Industrial Relations Commission (CSIRC) on the industrial dispute reported by the Front Commun du Primaire has been referred to the PRB.

5. Cabinet has taken note of the financial resources proposed to be allocated to the Rodrigues Regional Assembly for the Financial Year 2003-2004.

6. Cabinet has taken note that a Steering Committee has been set up to examine the feasibility and the financial implications of the implementation of the National Action Plan on Work and Family.

7. Cabinet has taken note of the activities to be organised on Saturday 27 September 2003 to commemorate the 60th death anniversary of Anjalay Tassalam Twakaran Coopen and two other persons who were shot at Belle Vue Harel on 27 September 1943.

8. Cabinet has agreed to the hunting season being fixed from 1 June to 30 September.

9. Cabinet has taken note of the outcome of the missions of -
(a) the Minister of Housing and Lands to Kenya where he participated in the 19th Session of the UN-Habitat Governing Council held from 5 to 9 May; and
(b) the Minister of Arts and Culture to Pretoria, South Africa where he attended a colloquium of SADC Ministers of Culture held from 23 to 26 May in the context of the First SADC Multi-Disciplinary Festival.

10. Cabinet has taken note of progress made in the Integrated Infrastructure Development Project at Vallée Pitot for the provision of utility services.
